How I work: the Plan-Do-Review process
I use the nationally recognised Plan-Do-Review process in my work as an Educational Psychologist, because I believe that better outcomes for children and young people are achieved when this process is used.
Here is an overview of the Plan-Do-Review process:
- The Plan-Do-Review process is based on theories of learning. Those theories recognise that learning is not just a single event. Learning is an active process that includes practice and reflection.
- Lots of organisations use a Plan-Do-Review process because it provides a formal framework for exploring what needs to change.
- The Plan-Do-Review process is used in schools to help understand a child or young person’s difficulties and how any difficulties may be supported.
- The Plan-Do-Review process takes place in one meeting.
- The Plan involves:
- Exploring the indications from any assessments.
- Focusing on the outcomes we want to achieve.
- The Do stage involves:
- Creating an action plan to identify what support a child or young person needs to help them make progress.
- The Review (a date will be set for this meeting) is the opportunity to check if the action plan is working.
